James Bond Would Love Flexcar

I met with Kaleb Miller from Flexcar yesterday to suggest some ways they might use the socialweb to get their unique and fabulous story out there (stylish, modular, inexpensive, and carbon-free transportation). Kaleb’s the Neighborhood Development Manager for Portland and greater Oregon. Flexcar, of which I am an active member (I love using the sporty Subaru that’s parked at NW 11th and Johnson), I learned, is really starting to make inroads with the kids by partnering with colleges and universities.

I told Kaleb, if that’s one of their strategies, then they should really be thinking about working through the Web more than they are. I mean they should be leveraging the Web no matter what the demographic to unlock value at the edge. But at the end of the day, Flexcar is selling a lifestyle change that is totally aligned with the mobile, hip lifestyle young people are all about today. Kaleb’s Net native himself, so it wasn’t hard to make the point.

We peppered that conversation with taking a look at things on the Web that people are doing right now to evangelize Flexcar, which Flexcar could very easily, in turn, amplify. It’s all about having the right mindset. Here’s one, a school project, that I think is just awesome: Link.
