The Web’s Rebel Forces

By | April 1, 2008

I love where the Web is right now: stalled out.

YHOO/MSFT is hanging. No one is sure if Facebook is going to become an actual platform or not. There is a little less funding and no interesting acquisitions (Microsoft buying Rapt doesn’t count). Execs are moving around.

Hell, even danah boyd isn’t reading blogs right now.

I love it because this is the in-breath. And, meanwhile, the rebel forces are working hard underground to bring down the empire. It’s hard to say when they’ll appear, but appear they will.

I do hope, though, that the rebels have been working on “share-alike” advertising. This new advertising (way to pioneer, VideoEgg) is going to underpin the Web economy.
