Standards, that surely is the ticket . . . if digital marketing is one day going to boom. Then we can all start talking a little more SMAC.
Whatever they come up with at the Social Media Advertising Council (SMAC), conceptually, it’s going to be at least cousins with Federated Media’s new “CM Toolbox,” which is a set of metrics for social media (or “conversation marketing”). Link.
Did your product get a mention in Twitter? How many comments on a post did it receive? Did the accompanying widget get embedded on other sites or on Facebook? How many times was a related Web page bookmarked or “shared.” These things and more, as well as established measurements like click-throughs, are in the Toolbox.
Really great stuff . . . transformational.
